Basel Chamber Orchestra Association
The Board of the Basel Chamber Orchestra Association is the strategic backbone of the professional orchestra. The board concentrates on setting medium- and long-term guidelines for the successful work of the Basel Chamber Orchestra.
The board includes representatives from politics, society, business and culture as well as five orchestra representatives in equal numbers. Members of the association are the orchestra musicians and the board members. The members of the board are elected every two years by the members of the association.

Artistic Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is responsible for artistic and programmatic issues. This committee consists of five orchestra representatives, the director and the artistic delegate representing the concert agency.
The Planning Commission discusses and decides on practical aspects of performance and the programmatic orientation of the orchestra (repertoire, cooperation with soloists and conductors, acceptance and rejection of individual projects).
Staffing Commission
The Casting Committee consists of five elected orchestra members and the Director. The Appointments Committee decides on short- and long-term appointments and evaluates candidates for permanent membership of the Basel Chamber Orchestra.
Finance and Sponsoring Commission
The Finance and Sponsoring Commission is composed of members of the Board of Directors and the Director. It examines the annual accounts and budget and evaluates or finds new sources of funding for the Basel Chamber Orchestra.
Orchestra company
In terms of its financing, the Basel Chamber Orchestra consistently pursues the profile of a modern, innovative orchestral enterprise that has to align and assert itself in the area of tension between its high artistic standards and an oversaturated concert market.
This is evidenced by a high level of self-financing amounting to 87% of the total volume, which totals 5.6 million Swiss francs. The orchestra generates about 60% of this through concert revenues, while 13% comes from the Canton of Basel-Stadt. The Basel production company generates about 27% of the total budget from private funds (sponsoring, foundations, friends and patrons). Comparable orchestras in Switzerland are financed up to 75% with public funds.
